Recipe Summary Sundal
Sundal is a traditional south Indian dish (originally from Tamil Nadu) prepared for naivedyam (Prasad) for poojas. Sundal is very tasty and very nutritious too. I can eat it by the bowlful. Sundal is prepared using different legumes. I like this version with white chickpeas the most.Ingredients | Easy Dinner Recipes South Indian In Tamil1 cup dried chickpeas3 cups water1 tablespoon cooking oil1 teaspoon skinned split black lentils (urad dal)1 teaspoon mustard seeds2 dried red chile peppers2 green chile peppers, halved lengthwise½ mango, grated½ cup fresh grated coconut1 sprig fresh curry leaves1 pinch asafoetida powdersalt to tastefresh lemon juiceDirectionsPlace the chickpeas into a large container and cover with several inches of cool water; allow to soak for 8 hours or overnight.
